All features
Everything Lumen does
Every feature of the browser and the app, in a line or two. Only what version 0.1.0 has - the one you download.
Profiles
Real Safari in a process of its own
Every profile starts as a process of its own and opens in a real Safari window - with its own cookies, site data and proxy.
Its own Dock icon
A running profile is an app of its own in the Dock: the icon carries the letters of its name and the flag of the country it goes online from.
The profile list
Profiles are sorted into Need Attention, Running and Ready; each shows the country it exits from and how it presents itself to sites.
Collections and tags
Ready collections - running, through a proxy, direct, ephemeral - and your own tags with colour labels.
Search
A profile is found by its name, a tag or the text of its notes.
Command palette
⌘K: find a profile and start, stop, edit or warm it up, open the proxies or a section of the settings.
Several profiles at once
Select several - and start, stop, warm up, assign proxies to or delete them in one go.
Name, icon, tags and notes
The icon with its colour and letters, the tags and the notes are seen by you alone, and kept encrypted.
Start page
The address a profile opens with; in a profile’s window ⇧⌘H goes back to it.
Ephemeral profile
Writes no site data or history to disk and erases them when the profile stops.
How sites see it
A profile presents itself as Safari on a Mac, an iPhone or an iPad: the User-Agent and the window size change. You can pick a Safari version or set your own User-Agent.
Window size
This Mac’s screen, one of the MacBooks’ or your own; new profiles get a random one.
Deleting a profile
After you confirm - with its cookies, site data, history, bookmarks and passwords.
The window and browsing
Bookmarks and history
Each profile has its own: the Bookmarks and History window with folders, favourites and a search of the history.
History from Safari’s window
Visits in the Safari window go into the profile’s encrypted history, not into this Mac’s Safari history.
How long history is kept
A week, a month, three months, a year or for good - as you choose in the profile.
The window where you left it
A profile’s first window opens where you left it.
Closing a profile
⌘Q in a profile’s window closes that profile alone and encrypts its data; Lumen stays open.
Only its own data
A profile’s window has no AutoFill with this Mac’s passwords, cards or contact and no import from other browsers: an explanation stands in their place.
iPhone and iPad
iPhone and iPad profiles open in a Lumen window the size of the device’s screen: tabs, an address bar, bookmarks, a start page with favourites.
Paste as typing
⌃⌘V types the clipboard into a page’s field letter by letter, as from the keyboard - where an ordinary paste does not work.
Proxies
A proxy per profile
SOCKS5, HTTP or HTTPS, with a user name and password or without.
Never direct
If the proxy does not answer, the profile’s pages do not load - none of them opens from this Mac’s address.
A proxy in one line
Paste a proxy as the provider gave it: Lumen works out the host, port, user name, password and type itself.
A check before saving
Whether the proxy works, what type it is, its external IP and where it goes online.
The proxy list
All proxies in one list with their last check: type, country, external IP, latency and state.
Checking the whole list
All or the selected proxies are checked through the proxy itself: which work, where they exit and how fast they answer.
A check step by step
You see the step a proxy stumbled at - the address, the connection, the login, the tunnel, the request - and what to do about it.
The type found by itself
For lines with no scheme the check tries SOCKS5 and HTTP and keeps the one the proxy answered.
Importing and exporting the list
From text or a file, one proxy per line; before anything is added you see which lines were not read and why. The export is in the same format.
Assigning to profiles
The checked proxies go to the checked profiles in turn - or one proxy to all of them.
Domains around the proxy
The domains you list a profile opens directly, around the proxy.
When a proxy fails
The profiles window tells you which profile has the problem and at what step; in the settings you can choose not to start a profile whose proxy does not work.
Exit, time zone and language
Exit country and IP
The flag of the country, the city and the external IP the proxy goes online from - in the profile list and the profile’s panel.
Time zone and language by the proxy
At launch a profile learns through its proxy where the proxy exits, and takes that place’s time zone and its country’s language.
By hand or at random
Your own time zone and language, or a random pair from one country; the editor warns you when the time zone differs from where the proxy exits.
IP change
Turned on, Lumen warns you when the proxy’s external IP changed since the last launch.
Geolocation
Deny sites geolocation, or give them coordinates you set.
A network without leaks
WebRTC in a profile with a proxy
Off entirely: otherwise it would give a site this Mac’s real address. Support for WebRTC through the proxy comes with the next update.
WebRTC without a proxy
Off by default; it can be allowed only through a site’s relay, or with no limits, as in Safari.
UDP and QUIC shut
The process of a profile with a proxy is denied outgoing UDP, so QUIC never goes around the proxy.
No requests to this Mac
By default pages from the internet cannot reach this Mac or your local network.
The rest around the proxy - off
WebTransport, Private Click Measurement and signing in with passkeys are off in a profile with a proxy: they would go around it.
Safe Browsing
Off by default, since its requests go around the proxy; it can be turned on in a profile.
What sites see
A snapshot of a profile
A page on this Mac shows what a site learns about the profile: navigator, screen, window, headers, TLS, APIs and rendering. Nothing leaves the Mac.
Compare with Safari
The same page opens in your Safari, and for every signal you see whether it matches and what a difference means.
The profile’s panel
The exit, external IP, proxy, latency, time zone, WebRTC and how sites see the device - for the selected profile.
Cookies and passwords
Cookie import
JSON and cookies.txt from EditThisCookie, Cookie-Editor, Puppeteer, Playwright, Selenium, Chrome and Firefox exports, curl and wget; before the import you see which lines will not go in and why.
Cookies when creating a profile
A cookie export can be pasted as text or dropped as a file straight into the profile editor.
Cookie export
All of a profile’s cookies - as cookies.txt or JSON for extensions, Playwright and Puppeteer.
Saving passwords
After you sign in to a site Lumen offers to save or update the password; it is kept encrypted in the profile.
Filling in logins
A click in a sign-in field shows the logins saved for that site; nothing is filled in until you choose.
A profile’s passwords
Search, view, copy, add, edit and notes; the list opens only after the master password.
AutoFill by choice
It can be turned off for every profile at once or for one.
Warm-up
Warming up a profile
The profile visits ordinary sites by itself in a hidden window, with its own proxy and cookies - so it gains a history and cookies. It types, sends and buys nothing.
Ready lists
Ordinary Day, Short, Shopping, News and Media, Work, and local sites of 26 countries.
Smart picks
The list makes itself: sites of the country the proxy exits in, and the interests you choose; the order is new each time.
Your own list
Your addresses and a search query, the time on a page, scrolling and following a link within the site.
Time and depth
How many minutes to give it, and how: quick, normal or deep.
The cookie tally
How many cookies the profile has on each site, and how many of them the warm-up added.
A queue
Several profiles are warmed up one by one: a stopped one starts without a window, warms up and closes again.
On a schedule
The warm-up repeats by itself - from once an hour to once a week - while Lumen is open and unlocked.
The vault and encryption
The master password
A password of the vault’s own: it is sent nowhere and cannot be recovered. Your account password or licence key cannot become the master password.
Everything encrypted
The profile list, settings and proxies, passwords, history, bookmarks and cookies are kept encrypted - Argon2id and AES-256-GCM; site data is encrypted when a profile stops.
Lock
One button: every profile stops, its data is encrypted, the keys are forgotten until the master password.
Encrypted on quitting
⌘Q first stops and encrypts every profile; whatever a crash left unencrypted is encrypted at the next unlock.
Changing the master password
Changes the vault’s password on this Mac.
A forgotten password
Nothing is deleted: the old vault is set aside as a backup, and you can start a new one.
Moving profiles and automation
Profile export
A whole profile - settings with the proxy, passwords, history, bookmarks, cookies and site data - in one file under a password of its own.
Profile import
The file opens with its password, you see what is in it, and the profile is added as a new one.
Automation API
Your script on this Mac can list the profiles, start one with a window or without, open a page, read or add cookies and stop the profile. Off until you turn it on; it works from this Mac only, and only with a token.
The app and the account
Sign in by email or key
Lumen connects to the account by email and password - or with a licence key, without an email.
Plan and devices
The settings show the plan, its period, how many profiles are in use across all Macs and which Macs are connected; one too many can be unlinked.
Working offline
Rights are checked on the Mac against a signed document; without the server Lumen works until the date given and shows how long is left.
Data never deleted
When a period ends, profiles do not open, but their data can be exported; nothing is deleted.
Updates
Lumen finds a new version itself, checks its signature and installs it on quitting, once every profile is stopped and encrypted.
Settings with search
Every setting in one window; each says when it takes effect.
Interface language
Russian or English - whatever language sites see.
Diagnostics
A report for support is put together on this Mac, where you choose, and is sent nowhere by itself: no names, proxies, passwords or cookies.
